"... stylish, alert, warm, and transparent with so much of the counterpoint
beautifully revealed in the most natural way. ..."
- Michael Fine (GRAMMY Award winning world-famous Classical Producer)
Orchestral Ensemble Seoul (OES) has since achieved unprecedented growth with extraordinary musicianship, developing a flexible repertoire from chamber music to classical symphonies and been considered one of the most promising chamber orchestras in Korea. OES is a non-standing festival orchestra founded in January 2014 by alumni of the College of Music at Seoul National University who are engaged in outstanding careers in Europe with the aim to create an authentic chamber orchestra. OES brings the highest quality of a chamber music through more than two subscription concerts a year in collaboration with both masters and globally beloved young Korean artists. From 2018 to 2020, celebrating 250th anniversary of Beethoven's birth, OES begins its three-year project to the "Beethoven Complete Symphonies & Piano Concertos Series". The history written by OES opens up the new potential for independently-run organizations in the Korean musical world and presents a role model for its successors. OES is managed by a flexible and democratic method that all the orchestra members accommodate musical opinions with the music director on an equal footing, and participate in the administrative and decision-making processes for the orchestra. Since 2016, forming partnership with the Social Cooperative EEUUM, OES has been continuously expanding opportunities for participating in culture of the underprivileged. Since 2017, OES has signed a contract with the NCM Klassik, a professional label for classical analogue recording.
